Theme: Enhancing Sustainable Development Impact through Procurement, Environmental, and Social Standards
As governments and international financial institutions (IFIs) increase investments in infrastructure, climate adaptation, and social protection, the need for strong Procurement, Environmental, and Social (PES) safeguards has become critical. Many development setbacks—ranging from environmental degradation to human rights violations—stem from weak compliance with these standards.
This conference is designed to:
Promote coherence among global PES frameworks (e.g., WB ESF, ISO 14001, ILO conventions) and national standards.
Enhance implementation capacity in procurement, ESIA, land acquisition, labour, and stakeholder engagement.
Mainstream PES content into university curricula and foster interdisciplinary research.
Align donor-funded projects with local PES implementation frameworks and community expectations.
Explore technological tools for e-procurement, real-time safeguards monitoring, and social accountability.
