Rationale and Background
About ICSPESS
As governments and international financial institutions (IFIs) increase investments in infrastructure, climate adaptation, and social protection, the need for strong Procurement, Environmental, and Social (PES) safeguards has become critical. Many development setbacks—ranging from environmental degradation to human rights violations—stem from weak compliance with these standards.
This conference is designed to:
- Facilitate dialogue between global and national stakeholders on PES standards.
- Strengthen institutional capacity across government, private sector, and academia.
- Encourage knowledge exchange on integrating sustainability and equity in project delivery.
